The "British" Accent
I was at work the other day in an outside clinic and had to handle numerous kids covid vaccine. As usual most of them are shy, scared and some were not cooperative. But one of them caught my attention. A 12 years old chinese girl who converse fluently in british accent but to my surprise none of the parents had that accent. It doesn't matter probably she is going to international school and etc. But after the vaccine injection she continued chatting in british accent saying that “i know the worse side effect of covid vaccine is headache which could lead kids to stress and i can't imagine how awful it would be to experience that”. I was mesmerized for a second with her thought process and collected words because I was too shy to converse in my malaysian english accent and told her “well kid that’s beyond different level but for now the usual side effects are fever and bodyaches”. She went on with her scientific data and info but lucky for me her dad said thanks and walked out of the room😅.
Kids now days are beyond imaginable, its a good thing that she has learnt about covid vaccine and side effects but what she knows is beyond needed and that itself could lead to early stress in kids of young groups. I am not sure how is the education system now days but the internet is just an open hub to millions of unfiltered infos. Some parents may be proud of their kids being over intelligent and inquisitive not knowing it could lead to anxiety and constant need for all their questions to be answered. There is a trait in children that we call annoyingly’ inquisitive, seeking information on things that may be considered irrelevant or beyond their knowledge base at that stage.
Below are some tips to handle overly inquisitive kids.
